About B Squared Design

An architectural and interior design firm, B Squared Design focuses on high-end residential projects. The boutique firm was founded in 2014 to stem the gap in the Hong Kong market for a full-service provider, offering end-to-end solutions, from conceptual design to construction administration. A benefit the firm has over competitors is that it offers architectural services in addition to interior design. It prides itself on its customer-friendly approach with a Cantonese-speaking project manager, trusted contractors, and a full suite of handymen, besides long-term cultivated relationships with carefully selected factories, for manufacturing bespoke pieces, and furniture stores throughout the region.

Scope of work

The firm specialises in high-end residential projects ranging from two-room apartments to entire homes. The team also undertakes gut renovations involving architectural planning, besides interior-design-only projects for renters and homeowners.

Signature project

Among the projects for which the firm is known is the ‘home away from home’ created for a CEO during his tenure in Hong Kong. The multipurpose home had to serve as a residence, besides a meeting/hotel space for VIP clients and an event space for work functions. Additionally, the client requested to showcase his extensive art collection and make the home an oasis in the urban jungle. The team conceptualised innovative solutions for space usage and designed bespoke furniture for the living room and bedroom to add functionality and create a sculptural effect. The result was a home with spaces featuring visually impactful materials, bold shapes, and meticulously sourced one-of-a-kind furnishings to evoke the feeling of a boutique hotel. The project faced several obstacles in terms of logistics, deliveries, and construction and had a tight timeframe for getting everything done. However, by thinking outside the box for sourcing and materials and close coordination with a professional and resourceful project manager, the home was delivered on schedule without compromising on high-quality craftsmanship.

Among the awards B Squared Design has won over the years for its outstanding services are the Expat Living Reader's Choice Gold Award for Best Interior Designer HK 2022, Silver Award 2021, Bronze Award 2020, and Hong Kong Influencer Award 2020.

Design focus

The firm creates beautiful and functional homes for people from all walks of life. The focus is on creating sanctuaries offering an escape from the outside world. Every project is unique, based on the client’s requirements and preferences. Still, all the projects have overarching themes running through the design, such as clean lines, contemporary style, and attention to texture and colour. Over the years, the firm has organically shifted to including more natural materials due to an increased awareness of the environmental impact of its work. Natural materials commonly used across projects include wood, stone, and velvet. The team believes in the possibility of building and designing with sustainability in mind without sacrificing aesthetics – a belief increasingly reflected in its projects.

How to get in touch

Customers can contact us through the firm’s website to schedule a discovery call and get a call back from the team. After the 15-minute discovery call to understand the requirements, customers are taken through a zoom info session. Then, an initial visit is scheduled to the site to determine the scope of work, based on which a detailed proposal is presented to the client. The project commences once the contract is signed and the start date is fixed.
