At homify, we often speak of eclectic décor. The project we will show you today is a stellar example of eclectic style. But what exactly does that mean?

Eclecticism is a skilful blend of two very different design ideals, such as classical with contemporary or rustic touches in an urban apartment.

The interior of The Corner House, designed by Ansari and Associates, shows a tactful blend between classical Asian style and modern. It is located in the metropolitan area of Chennai, India. We will now show you the different facets of the building that makes it so striking.

Exterior of the house

As the name suggests, the house occupies a corner plot in Palavakkam area of Chennai. It is located very close to the city’s heart and, even more importantly, to the city’s coastline.

The three storey house boasts a beautifully designed façade. By using a combination of materials, the architect has given it a voguish look.

Living room

As you step inside, you are invited into a stylish living room decorated with large leather sofas. A shiny black coffee table, set on a modern area rug, occupies the central position. Small TV cabinet showcase a simple design.

A large flower vase has been set in one of the corners. Touches like this help to bring out best in any home. This house makes extensive use of wall panels with concealed LED lighting.

Kitchen

The kitchen shows a colour scheme dominated by blazing white and warm yellow. It is accented with black table tops, and has extensive arrangements for storage.

Aside from the worktops, it also has a tiny table set against the wall. Prim white tiled flooring help to keep the space clean and hygienic.

Dining room

The elegant dining room is defined by an intricately designed table and chairs. This space exudes a charm that is truthful to the tradition of the land. The furniture is a fine example of Asian craftsmanship and design.

This space is also stylised with modern cabinets and display units holding numerous decorative pieces. The choice of recessed LED lighting is in line with the other parts of the home, while marble flooring looks classy in a setting like this.

Courtyard

The dining room has access to a tiny courtyard. Its walls and flooring are cloaked in stones of various colours and sizes, and the roof is stylised with a trellis.

This space is appropriately decorated with plants and stylish lighting fixtures. A wash basin occupies one of the corners.

Bedroom

The Chennai house has more than one fashionably decorated modern bedroom. The spacious interior of this one is decorated with laminated flooring, a contemporary bed, wall panels with LED backlighting and subtle patterns on the feature wall. Valance lighting is used to brighten up the mood.

The windows are covered with beautiful curtains that follow a similar colour scheme to the rest of the room. One of the nightstands is decorated with a charming flower vase. The opposite wall, facing the bed, is dedicated to a contemporary TV cabinet, with additional storage cabinets set in a loft space above.

Secondary bedroom

This bedroom boasts a livelier colour scheme. A rose tinted wall panel that almost acts like a canopy over the bed, while colourful bed furnishings and curtains set an exuberant tone. Wall mounted wardrobes are built to neatly organise the clothes, accessories and other household items. The cot and nightstands exhibit a very contemporary look—this room is for extroverts only!
