Small bathrooms can be rather difficult to design and usually requires the expertise of  a professional architect or interior designer. Small bathrooms can also be cumbersome to move around in as there is hardly enough space for the sink, toilet and shower area. This can sometimes even cause dangerous accidents. Today we are here to share with you some tips on how you can make more space in a small bathroom so that you could possibly save money on hiring an expert in the field. We hope these tips will help you make the right decisions when designing your small bathroom.

1. Wet bathroom

Very small bathrooms which don't have enough space for a shower room or a bathtub will always get wet and slippery. However, you can prevent it from being less slippery and dangerous by ensuring a proper drainage system so that the water quickly flows away. Non-slip tiles are also a good idea for wet bathrooms.

2. Wall-mounted toilet

The old toilets are bulky and take up unnecessary space. Modern wall-mounted toilets such as the one pictured here are one of the best space-saving techniques for small bathrooms. They may look a little flimsy, but are actually quite secure, depending on the quality and installation as well of course.

3. Glass panel for the shower area

If you have enough space, a glass panel or a partial wall between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom can help to make the space seem more spacious. Separating the areas will also help to keep the bathroom more dry. To inform yourself further, please also read wrong decisions people make in small bathrooms.

4. Wall mirror and narrow sink

Opt for a slim wall mirror on the wall rather than a bulky medicine cabinet as its slim profile will help make the bathroom look more spacious. Narrow sinks can also save a lot of space, and they look much better combined with a wall mirror compared to a bulky cabinet. 5. Organically-shaped sink

Curves and organic shapes are always better than rectangular or square-shaped sinks in terms of making a small bathroom appear larger. There are also many unique shapes of sinks that could add an element of visual interest to a small bathroom, which doesn't have much space for decorations. 6. Lighting

Lighting can really help to make a small bathroom feel more spacious. However, it doesn't necessarily have to be bright lighting in order to get the job done. The trick is to install the lighting in the right areas. For example, the small bathroom pictured here has a large mirror framed with a cosy yellow light, which adds to the impact of the light.

7. Shower room

A simple shower room can fit into a small bathroom nicely and can help to keep the bathroom dry. Make sure to choose the ones with a sliding door in order to save space. It's best to position the shower area next to the toilet so that the toilet can also have a room of its own next to the shower room as pictured in the example here. It's ideal for toilets that tend to get wet.

8. Wall-mounted shelving

Forget about closets and cupboards if you have a small bathroom. Wall-mounted shelving is the best way to go for small bathrooms. Small bathrooms tend to get cluttered and messy easily, but having sufficient shelves to store all the bathroom accessories can help to maintain a more neat and spacious environment.
